One of the most exciting releases of the year comes in the form of Steve McQueen’s Small Axe anthology series. Consisting of five films that explore the racial tensions during the late twentieth century in the West Indies community London, Small Axe is an achievement worthy of much awards discussion. I have written on McQueen’s previous feature films which you can read here. With Small Axe, McQueen only proves further why he is one of the most exciting and fearless directors working today.
